O Oasis foi uma banda de Rock
da cidade de Manchester, na Inglaterra; formada em 1991, que começou a surgir
na mídia musical por volta de 1994. É uma das bandas britânicas mais bem
sucedidas até hoje, vendendo aproximadamente mais de 90 milhões de discos desde
1994.

A banda é muito conhecida por sua qualidade musical, e principalmente
pelas briguinhas entre os irmãos Gallagher’s; brigas que já resultaram em
vários ‘termina e volta’ e artigos na mídia em geral.
A banda começou quando Paul
Arthurs e Paul McGuigan
resolveram chamar Liam Gallagher para
ser vocalista de uma banda chamada The
Rain, já que o vocalista anterior havia se mudado da cidade.
Após perceber que a banda não obtinha sucesso, Liam sugeriu a mudança de
nome para Oasis; sugestão inspirada
no pôster de uma banda chamada Inspiral
Carpets.
O irmão de Liam, Noel Gallagher, trabalhava nos bastidores para a banda
Inspiral Carpets, um dia decidiu ir com os integrantes da Inspiral Carpets no
palco ver a banda que seu irmão participava. Noel e seus amigos não acharam a
banda surpreendente, mas decidiu investir no Oasis, e resolveu que poderia
entrar na banda de seu irmão.
Com a participação de Noel no Oasis, eles cresceram muito e ingressaram
em vários concertos, porém ainda na cidade de Manchester. Em um concerto na
Escócia, Alan McGee, da gravadora Creation Records, assistiu-os e gostou,
acabou oferecendo um contrato que foi aceito sem pensar meia vez.
Só para lembrar, o Oasis, é uma das bandas mais famosas quando falamos
em Britpop (Músicas populares britânicas, principalmente relacionadas ao rock).
Em 2009, mais precisamente em 28 de agosto; Noel Gallagher anunciou a saída
da banda, coisa já esperada para quem acompanha a banda há algum tempo, feito
isso o futuro da banda ficou aos mares. Após um tempinho, em 8 de outubro, Liam
Gallagher, participou de uma entrevista para o The Times anunciando o fim da banda. Em outras entrevistas futuras
afirmou que os integrantes da banda continuaram a gravar e tocar juntos;
reforçou a ideia de um novo projeto em 2010, ao anunciar que seria um projeto
com um nome diferente, logo dando fim ao “Oasis”.
