A incrível banda Samael foi uma banda que iniciou sua
carreira tocando Black Metal, mas que mudou de gênero por volta de 1999 (A meu
ver foi esse o período de transição), após o lançamento do álbum Eternal (1999). A partir daí a banda
começou a “industrializar” suas músicas, mas não no sentindo de fazer o som só
pra vender; industrializar no sentindo de incorporar elementos de Industrial e
Eletronic Metal no som que fariam futuramente.
A banda se formou em Valais, na Suíça em 1987.

Samael é uma banda extremamente famosa. É aquela mega
banda, com dezenas de anos de carreira, mas quase não encontramos um artigo bom
e com fontes falando sobre a mesma ou discografia completa com links
funcionando.
A banda aborda diversos temas em suas músicas, são alguns
deles: Satanismo (início de carreira), Espaço, Espiritualidade, Política.
Acredito eu, que a música mais conhecida da banda seja “Into The Pentagram”, esta possui 4 ou 5
versões diferentes e todas nostálgicas no mesmo nível.
Além dos EP’s, Demo’s, Coletâneas, a banda possui também
relançamentos de alguns álbuns de estúdio, com o acréscimo de novas versões de
músicas que já haviam no álbum antigo ou mesmo músicas novas.
Para os extremistas doentios
de plantão já prevejo aquele “Pô, a banda traiu o movimento do Black”. Confesso
que até eu fiquei surpreso com a mudança de gênero, não dá mudança em si, mas o
gênero que substituiu o Black. Não é que ficou algo ruim, mas comparando o som
que a banda fazia (que era um Black Metal Cru) e passar para algo mais
eletronizado, é uma mudança meio radical.
Nesta discografia só será
postado os álbuns oficiais da banda, mas por que estou falando isso? Quando
estava buscando pelos álbuns eu encontrei mais de 9 álbuns não oficiais da
banda (provavelmente montado pelos fãs da banda).
Em relação a sonoridade da banda
ainda no Black Metal, o som é bem diversificado nos álbuns, é meio difícil
dizer que todas músicas de algum álbum sejam todas agitadas e rápidas; por
exemplo o Worship Him [1991], o álbum
possui músicas mais lentas com sonoridade calma e sombria e possui outras mais
agitadas e bem rápidas mais características do Black mesmo.

Para aquela galera que é como
eu e não manja muito das crenças e etimologias, a palavra/nome Samael significa
“Veneno de deus”.
Esse nome é citado em diversas crenças, principalmente nas cristãs. A fonte se
