O Immortal é
considerado uma banda de Black metal, embora suas letras atualmente se
dedicarem a falar de inverno, desastres naturais, holocausto e caos; não falam
ou pelo menos não de forma direta sobre satanismo.
Banda formada em 1990,
na cidade de Bergen, na Noruega. Pode parecer preconceituoso e errôneo, mas uma
boa parte, se não a maioria das bandas de Black Metal são formadas na Noruega.

O Immortal possui dois
integrantes que usam codinomes parecidos, são eles Abbath Doom Occulta (Olve
Eikemo) e Demonaz Doom Occulta (Harald Nævdal); dando ideia que são irmãos, mas
não, não são. Esses dois integrantes estão na banda desde o início.
Antes de surgir o
Immortal, esses dois Doom Occulta’s juntamente com o queima casas, Kristian
Larsson Vikernes, mais conhecido como Varg Vikernes, haviam formado uma banda,
a Old Funeral.
Ao falarmos de Black
Metal, o Immortal é uma das mais conhecidas, a mesma é considerada uma das
pioneiras do gênero.
